I stopped following the NFL when I decided two things were true.
First: there is a not-terribly-unlikely chance someone’s going to die on the football field, and I don’t want to b e watching when he does. (Plus I hate to support the ongoing brain damage they’re all enduring.)
Second: I was tired of being disappointed by my team.
Not saying which was more important.
Anyway, been checking Twitter rections to today’s beat down in Houston, and some of the comments are entertaining .
Background info: the Colts have a wide receiver named T. Y. Hilton who historically seems to absolutely own the Texans o n their home field , but one of the Houston players decided the week lea ding up to the playoff game was a good time to call him a clown.
Hilton started the day by showing up in a clown mask.

Hilton, playing with a bad ankle, then had 63 yards receiving today. On the first drive .
One notable reception surrounded by 3 defenders. That Andrew Luck is pretty good too.

Some particulary funny (to me, sorry Houston fans) comments follow.

Thanks for indulging me. I’ll refrain from further NFL content, if for no other reason than they’re not going to win the SB this year so I’ll be depressed again if I follow them closely.

I turned off my last TV after the digital transition, but a few months later a tornado rolled through my area, and I decided having it available might not be a bad idea.
So I did a little research, bought a decent digital antenna, bought a used converter from a friend, and hooked everything up.
Five minutes later I turned it off again forever. I had completely lost my ability to tolerate all of the noise, especially the commercials. What a shitshow.

I pay just enough attention to stay relevant with the conversations in my office.

It’s the Canadian League up here, not a big deal to most, BUT in Saskatchewan if you want to have an adult conversation.......football will come up.

“Can you believe the opposition won the contest by virtue of having more points than our local sports team? A mighty unpalatable outcome, I dare say."

Colts have a long history with the CFL; in fact, our prev ious GM was a scout with the Rough Riders.

I think the current Montreal team started life as the stallions who were not allowed to be the Baltiomre C olts. They won the grey cup.

McLaren fans have the same reasons to stop watching F1

THAT WAS AN INSANE PLAY, WHAT HE DID WITH THE BALL TO THAT OTHER GUY. JUST ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
HOW DID WHAT’S HIS NAME GET A CONTRACT EXTENSION? THEY COULD SIGN (insert name of relevant player who is still somehow in the league from the last time I cared about the NFL) FOR A LOT LESS?
- that ought to cover most of it.

Turnabout is fair play.
Good news: I’m betting the Colts lose today. On the other hand maybe the Chiefs’ curse will continue.
